Bookbox, I think the final surname might be Tenham.  Compare the initial letter to Dowglas.

Perhaps Falleneagle can find a T name or two in the nearby records to compare?

Here is more of record to compare. Many thanks

Can someone please tell me what the second registration reads for Robert Lockheart. I am most interested in the witnesses names but would appreciate everything it says for that registration. Many thanks

Goldie61, Thank you very much. He had  a son James. It is believed James was a ship Captain he was also known as James Horatio Lockhart. Others believe he died at 14 in 1661 and buried at Greyfrier but I have an internment from there and no James was buried there.  This could be him. Again thank you very much and hope you have a great New Year.

Hi

Margaret Little is buried in Staplegordon Churchyard near Langholm. The headstone inscription is as follows :
HERE LYES MARGARET LITTLE SPOUSE TO ALEXANDER LOCKHART GARDINER IN LANGHOLM WHO DIED 11TH JANUARY 1740 AGED 70

Staplegordon Churchyard is near Potholm Farm, Langholm and not so far away from the Parish of Westerkirk.

 I hope this helps.
