Am tracing my Wards and am trying to track down some info about Family member. Have found this and need to find out if it is the Sam I am looking for
Distinguished Service Cross, GV, hallmarked for London, 1916. Unnamed as issued, but privately engraved 'S.B. Ward for Distinguished Service August 2, 1916 - Presented by H.M. King George V, August 29, 1917'. Skipper Samuel Beach Ward, RNR, received the DSC (LG, 2 July 1917) for 'services in minesweeping operations' from July 1916 to March 1917.
Sam lived in Grimsby but was born in Scarborough and was a joiner by trade. I was wondering if there is anything locally which might help me find some record of him. He died in the 19030's after a motorbike accident to or from Scarborough. I do have this from a postcard
Any help would be appreciated as I have no leads
