I'm preparing a presentation for a family reunion.

The opening slide/title is "What's a nice girl from Eastcheap doing in a draughty Scottish castle"

I'd be grateful for any suggestions to make it sound as if it was being said by someone from Scotland.

Woo hoo!  I'm going to Scotland in August for a family reunion!!

From the ScotlandsPeople website it looks like I can just use my current registration to book a place.  Is it really 25p per page to save to my account, or have I misunderstood?

There's also a few records on the NRS index that I'd like to see, but I'm wondering about getting a Reader's ticket.  Would there be any problem with having a foreign address?

The Common Room / Depths of burials in a shared plot - how far apart?

I'm going through the records of a Scottish graveyard in the early 1800s and hoping that I might find some clues about some of my ancestors.  I'm also checking monumental inscriptions that are available.  My family didn't have any headstones but the other people with the same surname who did have headstones have helped to rule out certain burials. 

Two young sisters of my ancestor were buried there in the 1820s - one at the head and the other at the foot, at 7 feet in the north plot which belongs to a man with the same surname as their mother.
 I think the plot was purchased by their uncle.

A few months before the first sister died the mother of a man with the same name as their uncle, was buried in this man's south grave at 7 feet.  Five years later the father of a man with the same name as their uncle was buried 6 foot deep in the south grave of his son's property.

From the vertical distance between these burials (6ft and 7ft) I'm not sure this is the same plot and family.  If anyone has knowledge of the practical aspects of interment I'd appreciate their opinion.

Technical Help / Anyone having trouble signing into FindMyPast?

This is the message I'm getting this morning and it was the same last night.  Tried the UK and AU sites.

Cannot POST /sign-in

A few days ago I could sign-in but searches would only work in newspapers.  Last time things "worked" was at Easter, but not all that well.   It's been problematic on the old iPad ever since they "updated" the search format a few months ago.

My sub runs out in a few days.  It's not much use to me at the moment anyway.

I'm wondering whether such a gap between death and burial occurred very often back then, and I'm wondering about the practical issues, even thought it was January (in Fife).  Was it possible to embalm then?

The church records clearly state the date of death and date of burial.

£5 for a map of where just ONE grave is?  If they're going to charge EVERY STEP OF THE WAY then I think it should be obvious from the burial register scan or Grave details whether it's the east or west cemetery, and they should split the records accordingly.

Fortunately there's six family members in the one plot.  I don't think I'd fork out £5 each.

Researchers from Living DNA, Europe’s leading consumer genetics company, have launched a nationwide appeal to collect DNA samples from 3,000 Scottish people whose grandparents were born before 1935 and all lived within 50 miles (80km) of each other.

The project is now calling for qualifying participants from the following 20 regions of Scotland: Aberdeenshire, Angus and Dundee, Perth and Kinross, Fife and Clackmannanshire, Falkirk and Lothians, Scottish Borders, Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and Renfrewshire, Glasgow City, Dunbartonshire and Lanarkshire, Stirling, Argyll, Bute & Isle of Arran, Western Isles Council, Moray, Orkney Islands, Shetland Islands, Skye, Caithness, Sutherland and Ross Inverness.
