I'm not actually sure. I added him to my tree a few years ago and can't remember now.

So she's quite a bit older than Alexander or have I got his birth year wrong?

Yorkshire (North Riding) / Alexander Dundas 1760 Yorkshire

Hi there,
I am trying to trace the origins of Alexander Dundas. He was born about 1760 in Yorkshire. He married Ann Richardson in 1779 in Wykeham and had their first daughter Elizabeth in the same place and same year.
I can't find any parents for Alexander or any siblings.
I'm assuming with a name like Dundas he could have come from Scotland.
Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.
Thank you so much
Vicky

Thank you both. Have either of you done DNA with Ancestry or MyHeritage? I haven't found any matches on the Bottle side yet. David, thank you for your information on the Bottle origins. Fascinating story. I'd love to see your family tree. I don't have paid access to Ancestry right now so if you could share it with me, that would be amazing.
I'll message you my email address

Hi Starcat,
That's very exciting. I was doing this research for my sister in law who is a granddaughter of Basil and Winifred, which would make you two cousins (1st once removed or 2nd?).
She'll be very happy about this as she doesn't have many family on that side.
Could you message me your email address?

Yes I have. The only records that come up for him are census records and marriage records.

Thank you for your help. I've had a look through Findmypast but nothing there unfortunately. I noticed his brother who was born in Italy also has no birth certificate.
Frustrating as I'd like to find his birth record.
