Westmorland / Re: Isabella Parke b. abt. 1804 of Lupton, Westmorland

Good to see Tamars memorial card.
I don't  think she's  Isabellas sister.
The will of James Park of Higher Stangerthwaite Killington 27 March 1856 mentions his children as the late Jane Braithwaite, Tamar Oversby,Mary Park and sons Joseph and Thomas. See post More Park Wills .
Interestingly my Ancestor John Park farmed at Ewebank until his death in 1836. Perhaps they took over his farm.
He was born around 1784 and married Elizabeth Airey who was living at Sizergh Hall in 1804.

Hi Branne
Alfred Edwin is wrongly transcribed as Albert . He married Matilda Hoyle in 1875. She was the widow of John Hoyle. See 1881 census where she is with her children Sarah and Thomas Hoyle. Their children were Henrietta Mona 25 Jan 1876 and Alfred Grime Reid 1879.
William probably died as a small child on Isle of Man as there are newspaper reports of the death of the infant child of John Reid chief constable of Ramsey. William also had a private baptism which suggests he was probably sickly.
Edward is my great great grand father . He married Eliza Roberts 1 Jan 1854 in Bury Lancashire and was shortly afterwards appointed Station Master at Rose Grove Burnley.
Unfortunately he got typhoid and died age 24 in Sept 1855. His only son Edward was born posthumously. This Edward had 10 children and there is a family story that he was contacted by his aunt( Henrietta Mona )as she wanted to return to England in early 1900s. Of course he had no money to send her. Sue.
If you want more info send me a PM.

If you contact Lancashire Record Office police records you can request his details from 1853 to 1856. Should confirm his age ,place of birth ,physical description, rank.

Sarah Park is possibly sister to my ancestor John Park born 1784 son of William Park and Jane Rigg. William Park of Killington is mentioned in the will of William Park of Storth End 1805. I cant find my copy of the will at the moment so check out the Park posts on Westmoreland.

Ps I was interested in your post because my great grandfather Joseph Thompson born in Grayrigg was constable in Bamford 2 miles from Bury. His mother was Ann Farrer born Sedbergh. I can t see any connection.

Orton and Tebay local history society have transcribed the grave stones at Orton. There are not any early James Wharton, earliest being James 1864 ,a grandson.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: 1841 Rochdale Lookup please
« on: Wednesday 29 November 17 17:24 GMT (UK)  »
For the information of anybody researching Sladens and Howarths in Rochdale I have now traced this  Sladen line back to Daniel Sladen 1704 who probably came from Littleborough.and to John Howarth born c.1740.
They always lived in the Healey Stones,Howarth Clough, Syke, Ringlows,Rydings areas and married their near neighbours. Sue
