Brilliant.. why didn't I think of that! I'd been thinking desktop with the old laptop as separate screen but there won't really be the space on my tiny desk for that.
Thank you.

Hi Colin

Thanks for that. I'm using a MacBook Pro 13" (late 2011), Version 10.13.6. 8GB Memory. It apparently is vintage and I can't update to Mojave. I'm thinking of replacing it now but putting it off while I decide if I'd be better off with a desktop.. doing FH on 13" screen is sometimes hard. But it's great normally and I won't go back to a PC/Windows laptop.

I have Reunion, bought a couple of years ago. But, I already had about 1000 people in an Ancestry tree then and the transfer was a mess so I stuck with FTM.

Now I'm going back to Reunion because it is basically a much better programme. I will just have to concentrate harder on sorting the issues. I did ask the tech people for help but they couldn't sort it either!

So I have now upgraded to Reunion 12 and deleted the old tree. To move all my data in again, they suggest (in a post I found) using FTM version 3 for Mac and then import as a GEDCOM. I am confused about that as I have FTM 2017. I can see in the EXPORT option that I can export to version 3. Also FTM 16. I don't quite understand. Do you think I need to use version 3 specifically or will FTM 2017 work? Don't worry if you don't know. I can put a message on a reunion forum. I could do a trial run but my experience of doing that is sometime I end up with messy files which don't get deleted properly and then confuse me!

Would be good to have a Mac/Reunion forum here.

Hi. I can’t see any posts here after 2011 but thought I’d see if anyone is still watching. A Mac technical thread would be very useful. When I have a problem I think I’ve found the solution somewhere only to then realise the fix only works for windows.
I’m using a MacBook Pro which I love with FTM 2017. I do have Reunion as well but stopped using it.  That is because, by the time I found it I already had over 1000 people in a tree created in Ancestry. I could download a GEDCOM to Reunion but couldn’t get all my sources and images properly.
I’m thinking of returning to Reunion though for the Charting facility.

Hi. Yes, that deletes that particular Chart without losing people, but then, when you go back to create another Chart of the same type, you still get the one you deleted as a template, fully filled in with the previous individuals tree, text boxes, pictures etc.

I think I've sorted it though. You go to to the 'Use saved Settings' icon and select. You will see that Default Template is highlighted. Click on Custom template, then back again on Default Template, click 'use'. That brings up a new completely blank unformatted template.

Don't ask me why it's so complicated! Why can't I just find a button for 'New Template'!!

It also makes me worry that I'm going to lose whole charts that I've spent hours creating. So now, if I'm sure I want to keep one, I export the finished Chart?Report etc as a PDF to my computer.

Thanks anyway.. I read right through the Companion Guide and didn't find an answer.

Can anyone help out with an absolutely infuriating problem I have with using the Publish facility with FTM 2017 please? I know how to create a chart or report when I start with a blank template. But, then I can't get rid of the 'old' template! I made a vertical pedigree chart, added loads of text and images specific to the individual at the base of the chart. It looked great, printed it out .. bingo. I did 'save chart' because I worried it might get deleted somehow before I got around to printing. And anyway, that isn't the same surely as 'save settings'. But now, when I go to produce a pedigree chart for a new individual, FTM uses the last chart as a template. I have to delete all the images and text and start reformatting. This is ridiculous. I thought there was an option to highlight and delete but that deleted 49 people from my tree. Grrrr... Help!!

Hi Threfall.. no. They did apply for a few short periods late 1600s/early 1700s.. for Registration of an entry.. haven't got the dates in front of me but someone else has already posted them. There were also burial fees for a short while. Now of course you pay wedding fees, but not for baptisms, though I think there is a fee for issuing a certificate of baptism.
Anyway.. none of this would explain why only one baptism entry says 'dues pa'd'... think I will have to accept that whoever was filling in the Register at the time aded something that meant something to him!

Oh well spotted Maidenstone. (1) I was sure William Robinson’s was not at the end of the year and I’d didn’t double check..oops. And (2) I did look for other dues pa’d notes but clearly didn’t go back far enough. In a way, that is even odder. I don’t think that there was a fee for burials either at that time.. yes, burials, Baptisms and Marriages were all mixed up in earlier Registers... but I have a copy of the LPRS Transcription for those... I’ve not looked right through it, but used it a lot. Even in the years when there were charges.. there is no dues paid entry...
my feeling is that any financial transactions were recorded in the Churchwardens accounts.. though I have seen burial fees occasionally in burial reg for another parish.

It is a wonderful resource, and often I find things on there I can't find anywhere else. But if that leads me to an original image, that is frequently more informative than any transcription. Just little differences in order of words/abbreviations changed slightly etc are enlightening. And sometimes, as a bonus, you even get occupation and place of residence, often not included in a transcription, though I must say Lanc OPC are very good at doing so.

Thanks Threllfall.. we're probably related!! I've got Threlfalls in my tree somewhere.
Yes, I have dozens of North Meals baptisms too and I've never seen this before. I don't think it's related to a burial at all.. the only thing I can think is that it may be something to do with the family having only recently moved to the Parish. But they had a child baptised 2/3 years earlier and there was no entry against his name.
And if it was to do with the end of the 'old' year, as someone suggested, then why don't other years have a similar entry... it's a mystery!
