I had no idea about any Canadian sites before joining this forum!!!! Am now learning quickly!!! I looked through the Resources topic and played around on some of the suggested sites on there. So thanks for all those who shared there knowledge. Knowing that the 3 families were in Ontario helped I guess.
I think I was lucky with the passenger list because it seems it may have been one of the well documented vessels with  some 260 'home children' on-board (another subject I knew nothing of!!).
Thanks again for everyones help.
Has given me a break from some of my British 'brick walls' ;)

Having spent some time reading through some of the posts and advice on the Canadian boards, I have been able to find Edna's birth entry on the Ontario Vital Stat's project. Seems she is Edith not Edna and her mothers maiden name was Oakwell. Thanks all for sharing your knowledge on what websites are out there, has helped loads.

Thanks Michael72, am sure if I had read the topics above I would have figured out how to restore a picture but your simple advice made me curious and I have just had a go on a an old scratched photo of my Grandad I had already scanned in to 'my pictures'. Wasn't so hard and yes it was fun, I would never had realised what the cloning tool was for  :-[

Just found Joseph, Mary Ann and Children on a passenger record from 1870 on a site called 'In Geneas' via a link from Olive Tree found on here. Now just have to wait for it to drop into my inbox :)

Hi TropicalJ
You don't say where he died? I had a quick look and found a death entry for William Townsend J/F/M 1908 in Swindon volume 5a page 3. This is the only 1908 entry for a William Townsend with no middle name, however it says his year of birth was 1924 (often incorrect as recorded by relative informing authorities of death). Sorry don't know anything about cemeteries in Wiltshire.
Happy hunting, hope this helps.

Wiltshire / Primitive Methodists in Wiltshire
« on: Sunday 21 May 06 15:42 BST (UK)  »
My Ancestors are from the tiny hamlet of Wexcombe. From my research I know that there was a building certified for Primitive Methodist worship in the hamlet from 1844 and a small Chapel built around 1880. Would anyone have any idea where any records from this chapel would be or would B/M/D's still have been recorded by a neighboring C of E parish? Am not very clear about these non conformist religions. Any suggestions welcomed.
Cheers

Thanks you guys :)
Found Mary Ann and 2 of her daughters on the 1901 census and possibly 1 of her sons and his wife. Nothing conclusive on the cemetery search although there is a Nellie! :-\
The attestation page is fantastic Karen (the 2nd link didn't work however? ???) even has his signature.
Is nice to give some flesh to the bones of these Grimshaws. Had long been curious as to what became of them after they left London.
Canada records seem very confusing to a Brit used to archives from a tiny Island  :-[

Thanks for that MJP,
No I had no idea there were any Canadian censii (?) to look up. (apart from the 1881 on LDS site). Will have a play with that  :).
Kinda figured ships lists were complicated, maybe will leave that, perhaps will get easier in the future :-\.
Thanks again for the advice, is a bit of a minefield out there, much appreciated.
