Australia / SA Look up
« on: Wednesday 20 December 06 04:28 GMT (UK)  »
Bridget Elizabeth Horrigan married Henry Johnson 10/12/1906, Henry was aged 38 and Bridget was aged 34 (divorced)
Henry's father was listed as Henry teague
What I am looking for is Henry Johnson's birth and his parents names, I am thinking that his mother might of remarried and that is why he has a diffrent name to his father.
Any help would be appreciated.

(Bridget and Henry married twice, once before 1906, Bridget first husband dissappeared and so she presumed he was dead and remarried then he turned back up)

thank you

Devon Lookup Requests / Devon OBIT - Sergeant Major John HARRIS
« on: Tuesday 12 December 06 03:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi - I was wondering if anyone had records of old newspapers - My GG Grandfather was Sergeant Major John Harris and he died september 1908 in Sheldon, Devon. Family stories indicate that the King went to his funeral and I would like to find out if there is even 5% truth in the family story, I was hoping a funeral notice or Obit would hold some info.
Kind regards
Megan

Hi - James Helps married Emily Long in 1871  in Sydney, Nsw. You can go to the NSW registry of Births marriages and deaths on line and order the certificate.
Reg No 1104/1871.
Good Luck

Completed Census Requests / Re: Help needed 1901 census
« on: Thursday 07 December 06 21:33 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Some very kind person suggested to me to change the title of my subject.
I am unsure how to move this message to the census page, so I am sorry It is now on the wrong page. I am hoping someone out there can help me find this family in the 1901 census.  I now know that there also is a Pauline Thompson born 1891 in sheffield, Yorkshire (samuels sister) A family member suggested to me that they might have gone to Scotland, but I am not sure if there is a Scotland census available for 1901.
Samuel and Pauline's parents are dead by 1901 so it would be the 2 children with relatives? or in a bernardo's home.
Hoping someone can help.
Kind regards

Hi again,
I found a Albert V Povey born J/f/m period 1920 preston ref no 8a/1131
mothers maiden name - Inglis.
Then I found a mariage for a Jessie Inglis to a albert V Povey in Preston, jul/au/sep period of 1916 ref no 8a/1014.
Then if you look in the free bmd there is a Jessie Inglis born 1895 preston lancashire, you should be able to find her in the 1901 census and more then likely Albert V Povey (senior) will be in that census as well therefore fingers crossed you will be able to follow that line all the way back until 1841.
Have fun searching.
