I have a convict ancestor who was sentanced to Death at the Horsham Assizes in 1807 which was later commuted to transportation for life, his daughter was also sentanced with him she came to Australia in 1808, but I can't find any trace of her father being transported anywhere.
Where were the prisoners put while waiting to be transported? He was 61 when tried so he might have died before being transported.
His name was Cephas Tree B; c1746 Brighton Sussex, his daughter Mary was born :1785 Brighton, Sussex.
If he died while in prison waiting transportion where would they bury him? in a prison cemetery? would there be a record of his death?
I am at my wits end with this guy!!!!!!
If anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

I got his date of birth from another Tolhurst, I know he died in 1916 In Australia and on the NSW BDM listing for his death it states his parents as Robert and Mary, but no birth date , I am waiting for someone to get back to me with the details of his gravestone so hopefully that will shed some light, I checked the IGI but I don't really trust that site.
I will check out all the info supplied on here and see what I come up with.
I can't even find when he came to Australia!!!!! He just seems to have popped up here.

I am looking for the marriage record of Cephas Tree B;c1720 and Mary Light B:c 1724, I am after their parents names and any other information that can be found about their marriage which was about 1745 in Southampton.
