I've just found this thread and it's fascinating.  ;D

My husbands ancestor founded (excuse the pun!) the earlier mentioned Teesside ironworks (Thomas Snowdon) and we think Snowdon Road may be named after him.

Quote
Hopkins had arrived on Teesside in 1850 to manage a fuel plant and three years later had met a Mr Snowdon. Together they formed the Teesside Ironworks which eventually merged to form Hopkins Gilkes & Co. a construction company specialising in bridge buildingas as well as the building of locomotives.
From Now & Then

From CFHS website "Mr Thomas SNOWDEN, Driver on the S & D. Later went to France and became a Loco Superintendent of a large railway, returned to Middlesbrough and started an ironworks." Looking at the wages for the Stockton and Darlington Railway on the same site he was the driver of 'Hope', the engine built after 'Locomotion'

and that Mrs Scrafton Shopkeeper could be one of mine too!   ;D

London and Middlesex / Samuel Locker and Isabella Hill
« on: Tuesday 10 January 12 01:05 GMT (UK)  »
I've just found this marriage on the family search site

Samuel Locker
Isabella Hill
09 Jan 1750
Westminster, Middlesex, England

What I already know is that James Locker Mohun was born in Stockton on Tees in 1828 (Bish. Trans)  to George A Mohun and Hannah.
George Armstrong Moughn was born in 1800 to George Moughn (MMN Armstrong) and Mary Locker (BT) they married in Stockton in 1792.

Also from Bishops Transcripts, Samuel Locker died Stockton 1793 and Isabella Locker widow of Samuel Locker Fisherman died Dec 1802 aged 78 years.

It's a bit of a leap from Middlesex to Stockton but George A was 2nd son, first was Robert Hill Moughn, do you think this is the right marriage? and is it possible to find a birth in the Middlesex area for him or her?  On the family search site a birth year of 1724 is given for him but it does not give his age on the BT.

Many thanks

This happened in my family, it made it a right bu***r to find them but rootchatters managed (as usual  ;D)

My William starts off in census as Cambridge, marries, changes to Love, then back to Cambridge. With further investigation I think he was illegitimate, mum then married, he took stepfathers name then went back to mums maiden name after he married and then stepdads name again.  I have no idea why tho'  ;D

I've just seen this thread, belated congratulations Neil  :)

I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned it but I'd love to know if any one of the names from the Bona Vacantia lists featured on the programmes has ever been solved and heirs found.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Re: Ireland

Kathleen Violet A IRELAND
June Q 1910
Gloucester 6a 325

Getting that cert will give her parents names

The most likely candidate for Kathleen on the 1911 is the 1 year old living in Bath, Somerset but born in Gloucester.  I cannot see more details than that however, you'll need to look her up.
