Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: Fred and lillian Tipping

I didn't ask for a fee.  For goodness sake, friends asked me if I would do their family tree and would say "how much do you want for doing it", for my time, paper, inks (because I type it all out and put it in a book form) I would say about £20, sometimes I would say see what you think when I have done it.  Twice now I have been paid with a bottle of vodka.  What's wrong with that?  I enjoy doing trees, they wanted theirs done.   Tell you what, can you delete my membership.  I shall not post on here if it means my posts from 2009 to 2014 are suddneley coming under scrutiny when nothing was said at the time.  By the way I was sent a message on Ancestry about this couple and I replied accordingly.  It was 12 months ago now and I don't keep all emails.  Please do not post any more comments as I think it best if you close my account.  I'm finding this whole thing rather upsetting and would prefer not to get into a full blown rant about it.

Sorry Sarah,

I think you may have misunderstood my old post.  I was not asking for money from this forum.  When I do trees for people I ask a nominal amount.  I completed ALL this persons tree through looking at certificates and census records on Ancestry.  This particular one I was stuck on so I asked here as lots of other people do.  I am sorry if this particular post broke any rules.  What I don't understand is why this was not brought to my attention when it happened way back in 2009!!!  I have had computer problems and only changed my email address with this site last week (you can check this).  Also, in the past I have had people contact me on here and also on Ancestry.  You may find certain questions will have been answered elsewhere.  If you wish to delete my account fine, sorry if, after 6 years you decide I broke a rule.  By the way, I can still not get my private messages (perhaps something to do with my changing email address - not sure).  I shall leave this in your capable hands. Joan

No, it was given to me by a lady who wanted her tree doing.  She had this which was a copy of an original photo given to her by another family member.  I wanted them to have a better copy.  Sorry Sarah do you have a problem with this as well???  I have over 25 trees on Ancestry and have been helping people and doing trees for friends/neighbours for over 8 years.  I have never had a problem before.  I do not steal other people's photos.  I'm not sure what the problem is.

HI Sarah,  just started back on family trees, I come on here occasionally.  My original question was back in 2009.    I am no longer in contact with the person I did this tree for and as that person asked to remain anonymous so I am not able to share any info I have.

Is there a problem? I believe I have a personal message but if you look I posted in another forum today that I could not retrieve my pm's and asked for help. So if you have sent me a message sorry I cannot access it. Please feel free to delete this post.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / What does it say after Police Officer please?
« on: Wednesday 06 August 14 23:11 BST (UK)  »
Hi

This is James Arundel in 1861 as, it appears, a police officer.  This is odd because in 1851, 1871, 1881 etc he worked as a machine fitter/mechanic.  Just wondering what the words are after Police off...

While I'm here, can anybody possibly think of a reason a mechanic should suddenly become a police officer and then revert to trade??

Thanks
Joan
