Wiltshire / Giles Robey - m - Mary Barnard 12-9-1818 where? (Wilts/Hants)
« on: Sunday 18 June 23 05:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
Not sure which county to post in because;
I have in my tree a Giles Rob(e)y who supposedly married  a Mary Barnard in 1818.

Anc....y have come up with a date of 12-9-1818  in Wilts (FHL film 1239471) & also a different number but in Hampshire (FHL 1278952)

I know they took out a Licence which lists Giles Robey from Charney, Berks & Mary Barnard from Puzey, [sic] Berks taken out the same day (12-9-1818) but nowhere is the place of marriage recorded.

Would anyone have know where they married  please?

Norfolk / David Houghton - m - Harriet Gower 1846 Norwich
« on: Monday 20 March 23 04:14 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I'm trying to locate the marriage place of David Houghton to Harriet Gower in 1846.

Using the FreeBMD indexes I have them marrying in the Sept ¼ 1846 Norwich.

I have seen reference in an on-line tree quoting 27-8-1846 St.Benedicts Norwich, but going thru the original registers on F/Search for St.Benedicts I am unable to find the marriage in the original book.

Is anyone able to point me to the actual place of marriage or was it in a registry office in the parish?
If the latter is there a search facility for BMDs in Norfolk like there is in Berks BMD

Thanks in advance for any help.

Can anyone, please find her baptism?

She is only a small leaf on my tree and I'm trying to fill in some blank details.

Thank you for any help.

Norfolk / James Carver Gooch - m - Ann ??? about 1845 Norfolk
« on: Friday 30 December 22 11:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have in my tree a James Carver Gooch married to Ann.

In 1851 in Norwich, James is a 28 Glazier & Painter born Norwich and Ann is aged 30 born Neatishead, Norfolk.

In 1871 Ann is aged 52 married, born Neatishead with son James but no husband.

In 1881 Ann is 63 and by herself still shown as married & born Neatishead.

I have had no luck in finding  a marriage of James to Ann  and hope someone can help.

Any assistance much appreciated.

Hi all,
In my tree I have an Emily Elizabeth Watts born 1875 Ipswich, married John Phillip Bloomfield Ipswich 1895. I have them in the 1901 census with John as a bricklayer's labourer.

I'm having difficulty in finding this couple in 1911 but,  there is a census for that year with John P Bloomfield, his wife  Annie & fam and having had 5 children.

Coincidently I found a 1911 census for Ipswich with Emily Bloomfield aged 35, house keeper (to a William Hervey aged 33,  single), having been married 16 years and had only 1 child.

Both ages & number of years married seem to match in both censuses

Can anyone, please, shed some light on this conundrum;
are there two different "John Bloomfield" or did Emily leave her home to become a h/keeper to a single man (aged 33) or what? and/or is the Annie  Elizabeth in 1911 the same as in the other 1911 census? (now h/keeper)

Any help most appreciated,

Alan

Hertfordshire / Elizabeth Bateman - m - Wm. Bryant 1836 Rebourn, Herts
« on: Tuesday 27 September 22 10:53 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have an Elizabeth Bateman in my tree who married William Bryant (Briant) in Rebourn, Herts in 1835 Their daughter (Jane) was born in 1836 in Shenley, Herts.

Can anyone help me find her birth/baptism please. So far I have come across one entry on Ancy.;
8-9-1811 Kings Lanley (d/o Thomas & Ann).

In the various censuses she lists her place of birth as;
1851 Hemel Hempstead (aged 37)
1861 Crotchfield?? (aged 48)
1871 Crouchfield (aged 57)
last two entries may be same place.

She dies sometime between 1871 & 1881.

I have seen references in trees suggesting she came from Boxmoor,  & Kings Langley but nothing definite.

Any help much appreciated.

Berkshire Completed Look ups / Mary Ann Winterburn + variants - bapt. 1819 Abingdon
« on: Tuesday 20 September 22 23:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have in my tree a Mary Ann Winterburn who married a John Hewett in 1841 Sutton Courtenay, Berks. Her marriage record in the transcripts indicates she was the d/o William Winterburn, Shoemaker.

In 1851 she is with John Hewett aged 32 and born in Abingdon. Unfortunately she dies in 1857.

I have looked thru all the Abingdon, Sutton Courtenay & Culham (where John came from) records and only found one - Mary Ann Winterburn in Culham bapt. 1803 (d/o John & Jane)

The nearest i have seen is a Mary Ann Winterborne bapt 1819 (born 1818) Abingdon the d/o Thomas & Martha , a mason. To me this seems a good fit but, can anyone show more light on this Mary Ann please?

Many thanks in advance.
