In the event anyone comes across the marriage detail that is recorded as Q3 1911 in the GRO index at Headington RD for William G WILKINSON, I would pleased to hear from them. As I am trying to locate a long lost ancestor I do not know if this is church marriage or at the appropriate RO. Thanks.

Essex / Colchester - Bluecoat & Barracks Street Charity Schools

There are notes relating to several charity schools in Colchester.
Does anyone know if
- There are surviving pupil lists in the 1812-1825 period?
- At what age would a child typically be admitted to a charity school in that period?
- At what age would their education be ended in the same period?

I understand Sweden was part of anti-Bonaparte alliance during the Napoleonic War.
Is there any information that suggests a contingent of Swedish soldiers may have been based for a short time in Colchester? I am particularly interested in the 1810-1813 period.
I am aware Polish soldiers settled in England at that time.

Armed Forces / Napoleonic Wars

My 5x great uncle served with the 3rd Regt. of Light Dragoons during the Peninsula Wars. Records for the campaign medal show the three main battles to qualify (see image) - Salamanca, Vittorio & Toulouse. He has Salamanca crossed out and the word "Niza"? written underneath instead. Anyone any idea on what this means? Thanks.

Does anyone have the ability to enhance illegible monument inscriptions?
If have been able to bring a few words out on the attached using standard computer software, but pro software may get more from the text that is "almost revealed"?
The raw photo is from the local project. In the enhanced attempt I can see "In Memorium" (red box), my 4x GGF Thomas Bowles (blue box), the name of Ann (twice in the pink boxes, one of whom is my 5x GGM) and the name of Henry Harvey (twice in the yellow boxes).
