Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / Marriage perhaps in Wickwar, ca 1829 or earlier
« on: Friday 01 January 10 09:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Can anyone find a ref to a marriage of James Rymer (Rimer etc too of course) and Elizabeth? She was born ca 1800, Wickwar, and their only child for whom I have a date was born ca 1830. But he may well have been the 5th child in which case the marriage might be quite a lot earlier.

Thanks in advance, happy new year,
Jamie.

Hi Dick and others,
I've recently had an email kindly sent me by someone who spotted my interest in this subject. He wrote:
"I found your message re the Lang/Vance family Castlepoles Arva, Co Cavan, My primary school teacher was Mrs. Francis Lang Brusehall National School C of I  I attended this school 1929-39.I was an adopted child of a neighboring family. I got to know the Lang family very well. Mrs. Lang had 3 sons Herbie, Alfie, and Desmond, all have passed on now. Herbie's widow stills lives at Castlepoles"
Hope this'll help someone.
Jamie.

Brilliant, Shirley, well done!

You don't have any more Vances, do you? I'd love to have anything you've got.

Yours,
Jamie.

Dear Dick,
I would suggest you try the Irish Family History database at http://ifhf.brsgenealogy.com/map.php but for two things: one, I've had a quick look for your Vances without success and two, it's exorbitantly expensive (especially if, like me, you want to record all Vances).
Still, seriously, I may have missed them so you should have a look. If you find any further info, please let me know; as I say, I'm trying to record all the Vances in the hope of discovering how we are all related.
Good luck with you research,
Jamie.

As far as I know, William Vance and Mary Roger had 5 sons and 3 daughters; I have 34 descendants from them in all and a couple of generations from 3 of their sons.

I'd really like to exchange info about this Vance family - or any other Vances, come to that!

Herewith attached in two formats the descendants of William Vance and Mary Roger as far as I know them (which includes the two Waddle/Waddell girls who married two brothers, William and Mathew, and their descendants.
I hope this technique works!

I realise that the John I mentioned was actually the son of William Vance and Jane Waddell - anyway here's what I have.

I'd be really grateful for anything you can add to this data.

Regards,
Jamie.

Hi,
I'm interested in Jane Waddle since she married a Vance. I'm collating the English, Scottish, Irish, American and other overseas Vances in the hope of finally sorting out the connection between them and my family of Vans of Barnbarroch.
My aim is to collect every (!) recorded Vance family and try to piece together the entire picture, using all the available sources and taking into account the genetic data.

I'd really appreciate any information you have about any Vances (a gedcom would be ideal as it saves re-typing) and particularly any ideas, legends, or better still, knowledge, about their origins.

Having all the available information may help in eventually finding some of the earlier generations in Ireland and Scotland.

By the way, as far as I could see they had additionally:
Another Catherine, b ca 1874
Another Mary b ca 1877
and Mathew b 15 Jan 1866.

I have another generation, too, the children of their son John.

And could I ask you what your interest in them is?

Best wishes,

Jamie.
