« on: Saturday 15 December 12 11:30 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

William Brown, born 1803, Marcham, wold appear to have been the illegitimate son of Jane Brown. Can anyone suggest where - or even if - it might be possible to find a bastardy order or any other form of documenst which might identify his father?

Please can anyone tell me what was taking place in Malta in the middle of August 1943?

Bombadier Michael Nolan Moss of 190Bty, 10 H.A.A is listed as having died there on  19 August yet the official histories tell me that the last enemy air raid took place on 2 July of that year. Please can onyone offer any clues as to his cause of death?

Leicestershire / Freeman from Quorndon
« on: Thursday 29 December 11 10:25 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Richard Freeman, born 1 Oct 1802 in Quorndon, married a Mary Ann before moving to Birmingham, where he died in 1883, having sired eight children. Since the eldest, also Mary Ann, was born in Leicestershire in 1836 I would assume the marriage to have taken place around 1835.

Please can anyone name either his wife or his parents?

Heraldry Crests and Coats of Arms / Religious heraldry
« on: Wednesday 21 December 11 18:51 GMT (UK)  »
I came across the attached shield whilst researching a now defunct Congregationalist sect from Birmingham in the 19th century. The heraldic description given is Gules abend argent between six crosses crosslet fitchee or, the whole within a bordure azure, for which I have managed to find an explanation.

Please can anyone tell me anything of its meaning or origins and why it might have been adopted by a religious order?

World War Two / RAF Sgt Henry Robert Warren
« on: Saturday 14 May 11 18:02 BST (UK)  »
Sgt Henry Robert Warren (1391942) was a member of the crew of a Lancaster shot down over Mailly-le Camp, France on the night of 3/4 May 1944. Most of the crew, including Warren, were killed.

I have been asked by the family of the aircraft's skipper, F/o James Ineson, whether I can help them locate any living relatives of Sgt Warren, as they have photographs and other memorabilia which they would like to pass on to his family.

Please can anyone give me a lead?
