Technical Help / *COMPLETED* Wording on shut down
« on: Monday 23 June 08 04:38 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Hope someone out there can help me with a problem.

Up until four months ago I was using Norton Internet Security, and I was forever having major problems with it i.e. the program was  telling me that my emails weren't sent,  error messages popping up, computer was forever freezing for up to an hour.   I also learnt that Norton took up too much disc space.

A friend removed Norton, and replaced it with NOD32 antivirus system, downloaded Adware and at the same time put on Microsoft Excel (from their own cd).  Yeah, I thought, joy at last until the computer started freezing again, but not as much as it did with Norton, maybe only about 10mins.

On closing the computer after they had gone, up popped this message in a warning box:

"The Drive is not ready.  Its doors may be opened.   Please check Drive A.  Make sure a disc is inserted and that the drive door is closed"

There are three little boxes underneath 1: is Retry 2:  (escapes me) 3: close.   I usually click on No 3.   Othertimes, I just end up switching off at the computer instead of letting it shut down.

Is there anyway I can get rid of this?

KHP :)

This picture is one of the many boats my grandfather had for his fishing.   Goodness knows why my mother cellotaped it to the glass frame.     Would it be possible by you fabulous guys to remove the marks.   Looks like there could be a person standing at the back, its possible the photo was taken early 60's as granddad died 1971

Cheers kiwi

Cornwall Completed Lookup Requests / *COMPLETED* Gwennap, Reduth
« on: Saturday 07 June 08 23:03 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the whereabouts of where a missing twig of the family tree went to.

Looking for a James Malcolm McLaren born 1873 in NZ who graduated with a BSC - a Government Geologist.    He taught at the School of Mines in Thames, NZ and we think he left NZ about 1907 or thereafter.

According to his mothers Will in 1936 he was living in Gwennap, Redruth, Cornwall.   He could possibly have taken up work in the mines again.  Possibly he might have moved on to another area.   Have not been able to find any trace of him back in NZ.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Renfrewshire / Abbey Workhouse, Renfrewshire*COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 04 June 08 00:46 BST (UK)  »
Hello, ;)

A first timer here and from the other side of the world.    Wondering if there was anybody out there that maybe could help.

My gggrandfather died in the Abbey Poorhouse in 1867.    A cousin of mine gave me the workshouse site, but apparently no informants are listed.   Is there any other way that I could get this information.

Ta :)
