Dunbartonshire / Family doesn't appear after 1851 Census *COMPLETED*
« on: Monday 25 February 13 08:31 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have been getting a few leap frogs with finding family on the Census.

But the one below I can not find them after the 1851 census.   Either they moved or the Head of the family died and wife remarried.

John Adam, born 1824 in Kirkintilloch, Dunbarton .... Baker ...... Glasgow, St John's, (fits in with other family members)

Elizabeth Adam, born about 1821, Glasgow ...... wife

Isabella Adam, born abt 1848 Glasgow ... daughter

Jessie Adam, born abt 1848 Glasgow ..... daughter

Thomas Adam, born abt 1851 Glasgow .... son 3 months

1841 census he was single and I have that information.  My credits have expired so I can't check the SP site.

Any help would be appreciated.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / * COMPLETE * Help with Maiden Name please
« on: Wednesday 13 February 13 09:34 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

It has been quite a while since I did transcribing and out of practise with this 1856 death.  I thought the first letter is "K" ..... as it is very similar to the wording "Widow of Kind" which I will attach.  I have never heard of that expression :)

Completed Census Requests / Census 1851 help, Lanarkshire, Malcolm *COMPLETED*
« on: Wednesday 18 July 12 11:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I need a new pair of eyes as I can't find what I am looking for.  In 1841 Margaret Malcolm aged 40 born 1801 Kirkintollich, Dumbarton is living with her husband Alexander Malcolm born 1811 Scotland, a Master Baker along with her niece and nephew (brother and sister), John (1828) and Margaret Adam (1829), address being Green Street, Lanark.

By 1861 Margaret is a widow but she is showing under Alex Malcolm as a widow and  a House Proprietor having a servant, along with her Nephew still living with her, plus her brother a Baker, living at Abercromby Street, St Johns.

1871 she is under her own name.

Also why would someone who was married be living with a sister, but no wife is showing at the same address?   Would he have stayed there five days and then gone home for the weekend. 1881 gives the 2nd marriage.

Cheers

EDITED Apologies if I have put this on the wrong board.

Hi :)

Using Windows 7 laptop.   This morning decided to catch up with my documents from the library to print out, only to find that I could not open the document up.  This message appears.

"This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.  Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Program Control Panel"

Not sure what I have done .....

Hi,

When someone has some spare time or going to library for themselves could they please look up a death notice for me in the above papers.  As this is a death that is only about three years old, I will need to PM the name and date to you.
