Kent / Re: Folkestone Cemetery

No Iain, those monumental inscriptions are for the parish church which was closed to further burials in the 1850s when the local borough cemetery opened in Cheriton Road.

Maggie, Cheriton Road Cemetery wasn't really used after the late 1920s when the new cemetery at Hawkinge opened so I would expect they are probably at Hawkinge if they lived and were buried locally unless, of course, there were exisiting family graves with space at Cheriton Road.  The burials department at Shepway District Council should be able to tell you where they were buried.  What a lovely story, I do hope both you and Mogsmum have a wonderful time in Folkestone :)

Have you read about the yarn bombing of poppies all the way down the Road of Remembrance http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=654785.0

I happened to be doing some research in Essex and this looks like it could be E A E (WELLS') baptism just in case in happens to be relevant at some point.

Ernest Arthur Edward son of Albert Edward and Minnie WINGROVE baptised St Mark, Victoria Docks, Essex 21 Feb 1906 (born 29 Jan 1906) of 25 Tate Road, labourer.

Well Kent Libraries always did do 20 minutes research for free so I assume this is still the case unless anybody hears different.  I'm not sure in what format they would send it (possibly snail mail for a small fee if they don't have the resources to send electronically), it's worth an enquiry.

Any coroner's records, if they do survive, will be at the Kent History and Library Centre at Maidstone http://www.kent.gov.uk/leisure_and_culture/kent_history/kent_history__library_centre.aspx

Even if they do survive (most don't) they are often not as informatiave as newspaper reports.  Did the news report you found mention an inquest?

It looks more like "Traveller" to me, not that it helps much ;)

Does the burial register not give a date of death?  I would concentrate around the dates of death and burial for a newspaper report to start with.

I couldn't see the TW Courier or any Kent newspapers for that date on the British Newspaper Archive, is it not in the list Farlington?

Tunbridge Wells Library may be able to help with a news report http://www.kent.gov.uk/KCC.Libraries.Web.Sites.Public/LibraryDetails.aspx?aid=0&lid=99&uprn=100062541606

Try Sheerness Library.  It's some time since I used their local study resources so can't recall which parish registers they have on film but they should look it up for you if they have it.

They're gorgeous, I particularly love the big fluffy one and look forward to seeing everybody elses pics ........ I haven't done any more yet.

Lizdb, I presume they can be almost any size though looking at the pics of last years in place (link on first post) I would think about 3-4" would you say?
