Hi Nick

That's good to know & may help other researchers, though the original poster, our lovely Liverpool Annie, hasn't been on Rootschat for a long while now. We miss her dearly.

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Hello again

If you can find where the family are on the census (using occupation to get the right parents) and baptised their children, it might narrow down where they married. Especially if you can find other siblings marriages more easily. Just a thought.

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Hi Carol

It might be that you have to invest in the certificate to solve this one. It should (no promises!) give an occupation for the father of the groom, provided he is still alive at that time.

Finding a marriage without knowing which church can be a needle in a haystack job!

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Hello Jim

Thanks, I did have the probate record but I wouldn't have known about Birmingham library - you might well have saved me a wasted journey!

Warwickshire might just be a short step away but it's like a whole 'nother country when it comes to researching! :D

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Brilliant - thanks, Nanny Jan!

This is a new excursion for me, so I appreciate the help & will try contacting the Archives.

Would still appreciate help if anyone has any other ideas for local resources.

Thanks again

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Arthur Maurice (or Morris) MOORE died on 28th November 1892 at Henley in Arden.

An inquest was held and according to the death certificate it was determined that he committed suicide while temporarily insane.

I wonder whether any further details might be obtained of the inquest, which was held the same day as his death, and whether anyone can tell me how to obtain said details?

Also anything in the local press or burial records - we think he was buried at Preston Bagot, where he farmed.

Many thanks in anticipation.

Kind regards, Arranroots :)

Genius, Mike!

You'd be great at Twitter, where every character (sic) counts!

Every time I see a notification for this topic I think it should be entitled Huguenot or HugueNOT!

Sorry, just my sense of humour - it's a fascinating subject.

Hi Shabro

Glad you found the museum helpful. As you say, best to check before visiting, though they correspond by email at all times of the year. I hope you enjoyed your visit to the island. As you might guess, I have spent some time there myself!

Kind regards, Arranroots :)
