US Lookup Requests / Marriage lookup please - Otsego, New York
« on: Sunday 29 May 22 13:25 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I wonder if anyone would be able to find the following marriage for me please?

Samuel Sturt from England to Sabra Eliza Ploss

Samuel was last seen in England in 1854.  They appear on the 1860 census in Otsego and have two children age 2 and 4 months so it would appear they married between 1854 and 1858ish.

I would be really grateful, thank you.

Hi Skip7

Welcome to Rootschat! and oh my goodness at last someone else looking for my Baldwin family, you are the first I have met in 20 years of research.

In a minute I will answer your private message with access to my online tree.  But to answer some of below:

Thomas does indeed seem to be Corlis first born son, born in Ireland, don't know any more than that currently.  He had a son Corlis in 1840.  I have copy of his baptism and his death certificate in 1844.  The poor little chap was nearly 4 years old when he died.  They had a further 4 children in St Giles and all went to Canada.

I have not managed to find any more children for Corlis and Hester/Esther in Ireland but that is not to say they don't exist.  They then had a William born and died 1823, Sarah who married Michael Madigan, William Henry 1829 to 1891, our ancestor and a Henry born 1833 died 1834.  I researched Sarah and Michael Madigan and that was another very sad story.

I have held in my records the Henry who married Hannah Darby but have not been able to find a positive connection thus far.

Sorry it took so long to answer, I don't get onto Rootschat that often these days.

Occupation Interests / Silk Pluss Weaver?

Hi

I am adding my THELWELL family to the tree today and found this occupation which I am having trouble reading firstly, but also searches on Google are not bringing up any useful or relevant information.  Has anyone come across it before and can point in the right direction?

It is the third occupation down.

This one has been solved thanks to findmypast and their Kent PRs.  Married in Sundridge 1827 and they were bachelor and spinster.

Good news!  Findmypast have released the Kent PRs today and first search was for this marriage and I have found it.  In Sundridge 1827 between William Terrey and Elizabeth Heath.
