Hi,

Have you ruled this one out?

There's a 2 year old Elizabeth GLAZZARD on the 1901 census to a Richard & Elizabeth of Dudley.

Class: RG13; Piece: 2749; Folio: 102; Page: 28

Using the GRO website there's a Mary Elizabeth born in the 1st quarter of 1899 in Dudley.  Mother's surname was RAYBOULD.

Using FreeBMD there is a marriage of a Richard GLAZZARD to a Mary Elizabeth W RAYBOULD in the 2nd quarter in Dudley.

Hi,

Agnes EDWARDS, buried in 1916, does not appear in the list of MIs of Catshill Cemetery by BMSGH.  That would leave:

Holy Trinity at the top of the Lickeys
All Saints, Bromsgrove
St. Johns, Bromsgrove

Or

Go the other side of the hill towards Rednall and Birmingham. I don't know the burial grounds there.

As far as I know 'Worcestershire' is not on-line.  Midland Ancestors (the new name for BMSGH) have a shop at https://midland-ancestors.shop/  Search for Bromsgrove.

Plan B - always have a Plan B.

Take a look at the local paper The Bromsgrove Messenger.  A weekly paper with 60 odd years worth at the Bromsgrove Midland Ancestors branch's website  http://www.bromsgrovebmsgh.co.uk/cms/

They are FREE to download as a PDF.  Just register on the site then go down to the Resources box and follow the link, which is not visible if you are not logged in.

Good luck

Hi again,

You should also be looking at the Tithe map and apportionments.  It, hopefully, tell you what type of farming they were doing.  Arable, or whatever.

Hi,

The Whythall Index doesn't have your William in it, but may help generally with CRATHORN(E).  See http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~wythallindex/history/index.htm

Just thought,

The Worcestershire Burial Index should be now on FindMyPast.

Hi,

The Monumental Inscriptions for St. Peters are available as a PDF download or microfiche from Midland Ancestors.  Don't know about Baptisms and Marriages.

Midland Ancestors is the concise name for the Birmingham and Midlands Society for Genealogy and Heraldry(BMSGH).

Marriages should be in their county Marriage Index.  I don't think it is yet on-line.  https://midland-ancestors.uk/resources/search-services/search-services-for-staffordshire-warwickshire-and-worcestershire/worcestershire-marriage-index/

There is a county baptism index at https://fhs-online.co.uk/ Subscription service

Census and Resource Discussion / 1871 Census addresses - Manchester

Hi Folks,

I looked up a Sarah ATKIN who I found in Moss Side Manchester (RG10; Piece: 4007; Folio: 116; Page: 26).  I then went to the Enumerator's Notes page for District 74.  I can find a Monton Street listed and can find that on old OS maps.  However, I am struggling to identify further streets.  What I think has been done was instead of using Post Office approved street names the enumerators have used the house names - often seen high up on the front walls of rows of houses - to further identify the houses.  But no help at all when the houses have been demolished!

Firstly, do others think that is the case here?

Secondly, if that is the case, does anyone know on which street she lived?

Cheers

Mike
