Hi
This relative was a railway man born in 1874 and enlisted 1st Sept 1914 in the 5th Battalion Rifle Brigade with Service Number 210. He then went on to the Labour corps and was discharged on 15th Oct 1917 as unfit to serve. At present I have trouble with my scanner so can't load record but will do so asap but I have a couple of questions until I can load the images.
On his pension record the title is Army Reserve (Special Reservists) Attestation One Years Service.
At what point would the reserve status change. His record appears to show him transferring to Labour corps May 1917
The attestation shows he had served in 8th VB Royal Scots and also 2 VB York and Lancasters. I presume the VB stands for voluntary brigade. Can some one please confirm and where I could find more about these units.
At what point would his service number have changed? Is it when he went into the Labour Corps?
Any help with this would be great.
Many thanks
KK
