Hi
Hope the experts can help.
I have been looking for details of my grandparent's burials in Rotorua cemetery and when searching on the cemetery database it comes up with all their details and location in the cemetery but it says no image available. Does this mean there is no headstone. Names are Frederick Howard and Elizabeth Cameron Stevenson.

Many thanks

Hi all

I have quite a lot of information on this relative and I know most of the medals he was awarded but I am trying to identify the ribbons on his uniform in the attached photo. Date taken is unknown. William enlisted as a regular in 1946 and died of his wounds 9th September 1950. I have the list of medals from the Korean War Veterans Memorial Honor Roll and these include - Purple Heart, National Defense medal, Korean service medal, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea War Service medal, Combat Infantryman Badge. Also the Republic of Korea Presidential Unit citation.
I am presuming this photo would have be taken before Korea so my hunch is the ribbons don't really relate to Korea. I have looked at the many websites about ribbons and badges but can't seem to identify anything.
Any thoughts from anybody would be good.

World War Two / WW2 Portrait of pilot and navigator by Cuthbert Orde
« on: Sunday 25 March 18 21:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Have been having a tidy up and came across a copy of a portrait of my father (navigator) along with his pilot. It was completed in February 1944. They were in the RNZAF 487 squadron who took part in Operation Jericho. The portrait is quite unusual as Orde mainly did pilots on their own. Although they are New Zealanders I wondered if it is worth checking if a museum here would like a copy. ??
Any thoughts/advice would be good

Thanks in advance

Hi
Thanks for the extra information re the uniform. This relatives name is Donald Foster Stevenson and yes I have downloaded his service record. As with so many guys he was underage when he enlisted and at some point this was discovered and he was sent back to the UK and spent most of the time with the Canadian Army Medical Corps. I also have what there is of his US Army service record. Not a lot really due to the loss of so many US records. I put his casual army service record down as being in 4th Air Obs Squadron but it should have been 4th Squadron (Observation). I haven't done too much research on this but have been told they did built airfields specifically Wheeler Field.
It is possible the third ribbon could be to do with his casual service. I will have to dig around the internet a bit more. As you said this photo is after 1927 as that is also when he joined the 7th.
Thanks for your input

Thanks Rockford and Phillip

I have checked out the website and yes I agree with you on the badge. I have had my magnifying glass out and the marksman qualification badge fits. Before WW1 I know he was in some sort of rifles group so imagine he may have used this skill later on and the clasp relates to that.

Phillip
Yes, this guy received the British War Medal and the Victory medal. He didn't go to France until Aug 1916. Perhaps we won't ever know what the third ribbon is for unless I can trace a closer relative who knows a little more.
Many thanks
