Help! Rodda - Ludlow
« on: Tuesday 25 October 05 13:50 BST (UK) »
Hi guys

Have a wee puzzle. I have a marriage for a Richard Birt Rodda and Elizabeth Shepherd in Ludlow in 1833 but I haven't been able to find out anymore about Richard. He may have been born around 1810 but he and Elizabeth moved around a bit, having a daughter Hannah Sophia in America (christened as a young child in Ludlow) and other children born in Calcutta, India. Elizabeth is a widow by 1861 and the family are probably in India for the 1851 census so I have no idea how old Richard would be. Does anyone have transcripts of any Ludlow parish registers to check for Rodda's for me? I know most Rodda's seem to come from Cornwall, but I have no idea whether Richard is from Ludlow or Cornwall, perhaps it might have more details on his actual marriage entry? The details from the IGI are:

Richard Birt Rodda m Elizabeth Shepherd 9th May 1833 Ludlow, Shropshire.  Batch number M006805 .

Thanks in advance

Alex
