James Rae b. 4.10. 1768 Muiravonside, marrying an Elizabeth Anderson, Oct. 13, 1789
Elizabeth Rae b. 5.27.1770 Muiravonside, marrying John Baird Nov. 12, 1792
Janet Rae b. 12.6.1772

Hello Sheila,

Welcome to Rootschat!  ;D

There appears to be quite a few Bartholomews listed on this site: (Gravestones in Muiravonside Churchard, Page 5)

Thank you.  I think that is where I started (gravestones in Muiravonside Churchyard). Seems when one is looking for something.. they find a clue on the other side.  Cheers

I'm working on a friend's tree whose ancestors eventually lead to William Rae B 1743 and Margaret Bartholomew B 1739.
Andrew and Margaret had a son William Rae born 1788 Muiravonside. He had a son William Rae B1813 Laurieston, Falkirk. And he had a son Andrew Rae born 1842 Falkirk. He had a daughter Helen Smith Rae born 1878 Falkirk.

You can PM me if you want for more details.

Hi Shazzi1,

working out the relationship, I am a 3rd cousin to your father.  This makes us 3 cousins 1 generation removed.  I had nothing for James Wilson & Mary Nimmo so this helps with my research as well.  This makes James Rae & Margaret Paul your 6x Great Grandparents.

I will send you a PM to see what we can help each other with

Cheers

More births, this time to a David Rae, don't know whether this is the correct David but it's the only one listed in Stirlingshire.

REA, Margaret

REA, Anne

Am I on a roll here or what???

Next I looked for births to a John Rae/Rea in 1773 +/- 5 years

There were 7 of them all living in Stirlingshire:

John Rae + Jean Buchanan (St. Ninians)
John Rae + Janet Laurie (St. Ninians)
John Rae + Agnes Watt (Kippen)
John Rae + Katharine Lecky (Bothkennar)
John Rea + Margret Melvin (Larbert)
John Rae + Elizabeth Wark (Slamannan)
John Rae + Christian Baxter (Polmont)

I couldn't resist the last couple so I looked for their children who were:

RAE, Mary
Gender:   Female
Birth Date: 1 May 1777
Christening Date: 11 May 1777
Recorded in: Polmont, Stirlingshire, Scotland
Father:   John RAE
Mother:   Christian BAXTER
Source:   FHL Film 1041955   Dates:   1732 - 1855

RAE, Christian
Gender:   Female
Birth Date: 18 Sep 1786
Christening Date: 1 Oct 1786

Father:   John RAE
Mother:   Christian BAXTER

What do you think of this lot??

I hope it's given you some food for thought!

Anne
