Hi Keith,
Could give us some more information names, dates? I have the BVRI and am willing to do any lookups. There are many Larcombes of various spellings in Dorset over the period 1579 -1897. Regards, Frances

Hi Frances,

Many thanks for your offer of assistance.

My 5xGreat-Grandfather was John LARCOMBE b.1758c.  He was sentenced to death at the 8 March 1788 Salisbury (Wiltshire) Assizes.  He was reprieved by the end of the Assizes to seven years transportation to Australia.

He had been described as a labourer from Bristol (later documents say he came from Dorset) when committed to Fisherton Gaol and charged with the crime in early October 1787.

On the 14 June 1788 he was sent to the Dunkirk Hulk at Plymouth, age given as 29.  He was embarked on the NEPTUNE (in the Second Fleet) transport in late November 1789.  Arriving in New South Wales, Australia in 1790.

Any information would very much appreciated - it's stubborn brick wall for me!!

Regards,

Christine

Hi Christine,
I have tried looking for a marriage on the VRI for John. There are none in Mosterton and without knowing his wifes name it
is impossible to try and choose the right one elsewhere, as you will already know. These are the possible siblings of John, all only give his fathers name as John without a mothers name listed. If you live near a Family History Centre perhaps you could order the film and see if there is a fuller entry available.
Kind Regards, Frances
