1851 lookup Edward FOLEY please
« on: Thursday 27 October 05 18:54 BST (UK) »
I am looking for information on Edward FOLEY and his wife Rebecca (nee Reeves) in 1851.

In 1861 Edward is a boatman on the vessel called Rifle Man.

In 1851 he should have children:

Eliza, aged approx.  7
Emma, aged approx. 3
Keziah, aged approx 1 (maybe - I have a birth year of 1851)

Any information/clues/links/contacts would be very much appreciated.

Best Wishes
David

Hi David,

I tried to find them in 1861 to avoid asking you but I couldn't see them. Where (and when) were they all born according to 1861?

Many thanks for contacting me - it is much appreciated.

In 1861 they are listed as being at Ipstones under  the Cheadle district

There are 5 people listed on Folio 178 page 1:

Edward Foley, Boatman Master, aged 43, born Dudley Worcesterhire

plus children  Eliza 17 (?), Emma 13 Phoebe 7 and Joseph (my great grandfather), aged 5.

On other sources the birthplace is listed as Badley, Worcs.,

There were other members of the family in 1861 who are all back together in 1871 but I don't know their whereabouts in 1861 as yet.

Best Wishes & again many thanks
David

I think the 1861 image says Dudley.
In 1871, Edward says born Kingswinford.

I'm very sorry but I can't find any of them in 1851, and I have tried everything I can think of. I just don't know where they are hiding.
Hope somebody else will be smarter!

Many thanks for trying - this lot have been hard to trace all the way from 1901, when my grandfather's surname was listed as that of his stepfather, Hickman instead of Foley which he then obviously reverted to.

I didn't expect them to give in easily.

Best Wishes
David
