Richard Gilroy
« on: Saturday 29 October 05 09:20 BST (UK) »
I am looking for any information on Richard Gilroy.
Richard migrated to Australia in the 1850s initially settling at Kiama but eventualy moving to Robertson. Following his wife's deth ( Elizabeth) in 1876, he then appears to have moved to Kangaroo Valley, where he worked for the Osborne's. He died in 1884 and is buried in the East Kangaloon Cemetery. I have very limited knowledge of his life either pre migration or post migration.
He was Irish and came from a tiny little village called Brookeborough. There appears to be no other descendants there. Help!!!!
Wren

Hi wren,

Richard and Elizabeth had 9 children:
James 1853-1929
Married Mary Ann Nethery: 20/7/1892
They had 5 children.

Arthur Henry 1856-1954
Elizabeth 1859-1935
Richard 1861-1918
Ann 1864-
Sarah Jane 1866-1949
William 1867-1871
Henry 1870-1937
Louisa 1872-1895

Louisa is buried with her parents at East Kangaloon cemetery, NSW. Her grave has her nickname as 'Lulu'. Elizabeth's grave has her name as Eliza. She died from a 6 day suffering of diptheria.
Richard's nickname was 'Dick'. He arrived on the ship Araminta with Elizabeth (nee. Amos) and their son, James.

If you are still interested in this part of the tree, I am eager to have someone to work with.
