Hi,

I am hopeful I have found a match finally, though I'll never really know for sure.

i was thinking that because margaret and her mum aren't on the 1851 nor 1861 census that perhaps her mum married before the 51 census and that Margarets surname on the census is that of the new husband.
So I found a marriage for an Elizabeth Atkinson to Isaac Robinson, a few months after margaret was born in 1843.
On the 1851 census Elizabeth and isaac are there in exactly the right place at Thornton Gate with a daughter margaret with the right birth year and place.
This is the same for the 1861 census but then Margaret has left by the 71 census which fits perfectly.
There is no birth for a Margaret Robinson around 1843.
This is a pretty strong likelihood but I have no way of proving it.
If it is the right Elizabeth Atkinson then her father is called James.

I now have more weight to add to this as I have found a James Atkinson living at Foreside in 1851, Thornton which is where Elizabeth was living when she had margaret in 1843.

He is married to Hannah.
Other children are -
hannah
Martha
Mary
James
David

Thank you so much!

Bit of an issue with her father James being a comber though, as he is a farmer on all census, but his address on the census is the same as where Elizabeth lived on margarets birth cert in 1843.
