1851/1861 census lookup please ROSS

Hi everyone.

I know this is a long shot but have got my fingers crossed anyway.

Looking for Hugh ROSS have his birth about 1845? ROC, Scotland
maybe wife Edith Agnes nee SCHRAEDER? maybe married her in AUstralia not sure of that yet.

They came to Australia in 1866.
Any ideas where I head next?

I've just got some more info that I'm hoping might help.
John Ross was the father of my Hugh ROSS b about 1845ish.

there is 3 hugh living with their father john and a couple of servants

do you have his death cert?

any clues on his mother's name

Hi there,

Thanks for your offer. I really don't know what to do as have nothing at all much more to go on.
There were hundreds if not thousands of Hugh Ross' that came to Australia.

I only know his wife's name but don't know where or when they married at all!??

Can you please post the ones you mention just incase?!
Any suggestions?

no birth, no death, no marriage, no descendants?

Hi there,

I think he was born around 1845 ROC Scotland. His father was John ROSS.
Hugh came to Australia in 1866 on the 'Charlotte Gladstone'.
He married Edith Agnes Schrader in South Australia 1891.
They had a son Hugh Frederick Alan ROSS 1892 in South Australia
They had a daughter Edith Alvena Mae ROSS 1894 in South Australia
He died 1936 and is buried in South Australia.

That's the extent of my info unfortunately.

Does anyone know from which port in UK the Charlotte Gladstone left from?

The IGI doesn't have many Hugh Ross for that time with a father John (and these are extracted from the OPRs):

 11 July 1844 (b), Fearn, John and Janet Ross
7 Sept 1846 (bpt), Fodderty, John Rose and Janet Cameron

and two patron submissions:

3 December 1846 (b), Logie-Easter, John Rose and Isabella Ross
22 February 1846 (b), Edderton, John and Mary Ross
