Binham Parish- Walsingham - Pre-1800 parish records- MARGARET KENDALL
« on: Monday 14 November 05 18:45 GMT (UK) »
Regards all  :)

A bit of a long shot but, it never hurts to try.

Anybody have anything on Binham Parish before 1800?  I am looking for a baptism of MARGARET KENDALL in about 1797 (spelled Kendle and Kendell) to a John and Margaret Kendle.  I have come up empty at IGI and at the various transcriptions sites available.

Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated  ;D

Binham Registers for children of John and Margaret Kendle
Charles bap 30 December 1798 born 21 November
Robert Tompson bap 17 April 1801 no birth date listed
Eliza bap 3 July 1803 born 29 June
Elizabeth bap 29 December 1805 born 26 December

John Kendle married Margaret Thomson at Cockthorpe 5 January 1797

Margaret would have been their first child, so try Cockthorpe if this is the mothers home village.

It has been along time for that post
I'd given up every finding Margaret

Thanks for the info and I'll see if anyone can pick up the trail of John Kendle and Margaret Thomson in Cockthorpe  :)

John Kendle and Margaret Thomson - COCKTHORPE PARISH 1797

Hi All

'amondg' here on the Norfolk board just answered a rather old post of mind   :)

She picked up the trail of a Kendle family that I am hoping will solve one of my many genealogy mysteries:  Margaret Kendle/Kendall married Christopher Jarvis in Houghton Parish in 1821.  No one could ever find out who Margaret's family was or where she came from but it was not Houghton Parish as there was no sign of Kendalls or Margaret in the available records prior to her marriage to Christopher Jarvis.

Going backwards I found a John and Margaret Kendell though in Binham Parish baptizing children circa 1800 but no daughter Margaret.  And no information to suggest they had a daughter Margaret

However, thanks to 'amondg' it seems John and Margaret were married in Cockthorpe Pairsh so perhaps there is more information to be found in that Parish area and the baptism of one Margaret Kendall/Kendle.

Anybody have anything on this couple or their children

Hi Yokel

Thanks for the great info  :)
You might have actually found my girl  :-*

I did have the marriage of Christopher and Margaret in East Rudham Parish (Thank you though).
Margaret has always been the one who I was never able to put into a family.
Her and Christopher Jarvis raised their children in Houghton Parish before immigrating to Canada in the 1840's.
Houghton is where Christopher Jarvis was born/raised but no Kendell/Kendle/Kendall or none that worked living there.

As the crow flies yes Helhoughton seems quite close to East Rudham where Christopher and Margaret married...

So any ideas as to what other sources are available for this early time frame to try and track this John and Mary Kendall....?  Or any connection from their Margaret to Jarvis....

Any chance these are the same Kendells found baptizing kids in Binham? Although that was a John and Margaret....

Always open to thoughts and suggestions...

There is a John Kendell and his wife Sarah (nee Musgrave married 4 May 1786) in New Houghton, which is the Houghton where the Jarvis family were.

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01g5s/

A Susannah Kendell was baptised there in 1788 to John and Sarah, but I cannot find any baptisms to them after that.

looks like too many Kendalls now :-\
