Channel four have created a  site, it was announced after tonights screening, The Somme.
It contains a searchable database and memorials

A great idea, but as one contributor to the site's own forum has already pointed out, it looks as though they have seriously underestimated the traffic!  Searches on named individuals work, but trying to view the memorial the search fails to find the server. 

I cannot use the advanced search because I don't know how old my chap was when he died, and it is compulsory to put in an age 15-29.

Trying to search on one of the Memorials mentioned in a previous search (Holy Trinity Church) brings forth the rebuke "323 found, refine your search".  Unfortunately it is not possible to do this, as they didn't tell me where the memorial is!

I wish them luck in improving the site: it could be a great resource.
