Hi,
Thanks for your e-mail.

I do not think our Armstrongs are related at this stage.

I see you have a Dodgson - have you looked at the Dodgson Manuscript which lists loads of Dodgsons and related families in that area?
In your search engine type in in inverted commas "Dodgson Manuscript".
If you can plough through it there is a mine of information about the families around Bewcastle on this.

Hi Judy
I have some Armstrongs in my family tree, also Pearson.
My Armstrong is Elizabeth Armstrong who married a William Pearson in approx 1853.   Elizabeth's parents were William & Mary Armstrong, and I have also found 2 brothers Robert and Thomas.  All the Armstrongs (Robert, Thomas and Elizabeth) were born in the 1830s.
Please get back to me if you think any of these correlate with your research.
Thanks Anita
 :)
PS  I can share some info with you on the Pearsons if you think they link up with your tree.

Yes thanks Judy...I did find it a few months ago...and as you said it's a mine of information of the families in that area, especially when you consider it was written in the early 1800's.

Thanks for pointing out however..I'm sure it may come in useful for others looking up Dodgson, Routledge, Nixon, Kennedy, Armstrong, Tweddle, Little and others I can't recall right now.

Jane's brother John came to Ontario, Canada, married, 9 children, 44 grandchildren.  He was my great great grandfather.    Another sister, Margaret, married Philip Davidson and stayed in Castle Carrock, but I would like to find Jane and her husband too.   There's another sister Ann and I know nothing about her.    I am working on the tree at

And...your Jane Atkinson's uncle Richard Atkinson married Ann Armstrong.   Their son, also named John, first cousin to my John, also came to Ontario and left many descendants.
