Willsher David and Charlotte
« on: Friday 18 November 05 09:26 GMT (UK) »
Hi list
I am after any information on this couple. I think in 1839 David Willsher married Charlotte Elizabeth HART ? in Ticehurst. I think in 1851 census they are in Salehurst with a son Charles.
Could some kind person check out the 1851 census to see if this is correct.
David and Charlotte should be about 35 -37 years old in 1851 and David born in Hooe and Charlotte in Tunbridge Wells.

Because I have another Willsher branch ( Joseph b. about 1772 place unknown) in my family tree I would love to find out more information on David Willsher and if possible who his siblings/ parents might be. Is the 1841 census available? What church records do I need to check out?

Any information or help would be most appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Helen

From IGI extracted record...

David WILLSHER married Charlotte Elizabeth HART on 4th June 1839 at Ticehurst

I'm sure this is only confirming what you already know - good luck with the census stuff  :)

Hi again

Looked at the 1841 for Ticehurst and surrounding area, but although there are 4 seperate entries for Wilsher, nothing matches your criteria.

These are the entries

Wilsher Matilda, 7, at a private school under Ann Perigoe

Wilsher Thomas, 30, Farmer & Lucy, 30 together with 3 children and 4 servants

Wilsher Esther, 80, Independant with 2 servants

Wilsher Robert, 35, Farmer & Matilda, 35 with 4 children and 6 servants

Hope that lot above somehow helps you

Hi there

Might be a clue to where David comes from here

Location: Ticehurst, East Sussex,  Date:  4 Jun 1839:
Groom: David WILLSHER, bachelor, deaper Hastings - father deceased.
Bride: Charlotte Elizabeth HART, spinster of this parish
Witnessed by Jos.PETITTE & liza Jane HART.

Where this 'deaper Hastings' is, I have no idea, but will now look through the Hastings census to see if I can spot any clues

Hi Chris
Thank you for all your help. :)

It is interesting that in 1861 census their son is not at home.I am interested in him because he may in 1887 marry into my other Willsher line.

I know that Charles Fdk. H Willsher is alive in 1881 as he is on the census with his parents, David and Charlotte Willsher at 25 Vale Road, Tonbridge, Kent.

After that I can not trace him. He may marry in 1887 a Emma or Minnie but I have not been able to find him on the 1891 or 1901 census. :(

Once more a big thank you
Helen

Hi Chris    :D

Now that I have reviewed the information that you most kindly sent, I think that some of the 1841 Census WILSHER families in Ticehurst belong to the family I am searching for.

Can you inform me if you have access to the 1841 Census or if it is available?

I am very interested in Thomas and Lucy WILSHER and their 3 children. I am hoping that this is my family and that one child is called John (born about 1836). All will be born in Sussex. :)

Anyway, many thanks for the help you have given me and the time you have spent.

Helen
