My GG Grandfather Jacob Davies (living in Ponkey, Ruabon in 1865, Born late 1820's) is not mentioned in any of the publications about the welsh brick industry which surprises me as the mother of my 2nd cousin told her son he was celebrated in the "who's-who" book of noted ones. The book according to her held at The University of Wales. He was evidently known as "Jake-The-Brickie" and invented "the Davies brick" which she understood was a fire brick. She was very knowledgable on family history and it puzzles me none of these publications mentions him if he did indeed invent a firebrick.

Are there any North Wales historians/researchers on here can throw any light on the above (or otherwise put out the fire?) Jacob was born and Died in Denbighshire (Died 1897)

Any help would be appreciated!
