Pontypool 1871 - Field
« on: Friday 25 November 05 10:25 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

just hoping that someone could look up William Field and his family in Pontypool in 1871.

They were living in Trevethin in 1861.

The family included William aged about 73, Bridget aged about 60, and possibly other family members.

Regards

Jean Sandra

Hi Jean Sandra,

Could you post the 1861 details including birthplaces? I'll have a look.

Hi again,

The best I can see is this very confusing entry:

RG10/5332 42 20
Trevethin Southill
Tranch
Margaret Forest, head, mar, 35, b. Ireland
John, son, 10, scholar, b. do.
Patrick, son, 8, scholar, b. do.
William, son, 1, b. Mon Panterg (?)
Bridget Field, stepmother, wid, 54, b. Ireland
William Field, son, unm, 28, Miner, b. do.
Sarah Field, dau, 4, b. Mon Tranch

The reference you quote has me confused as well.... HO107 is either 1841 or 1851  ???

Not sure this helps much...

It says William Field is a Widow and there is 3 young Field children.

Did he leave them in Wales with his Mother and he went to Bolton and had another family??

Is that why he went back with Mary Garvey and had Catherine Field there?

just a thought.

John Field born in Killeagh who is mentioned in Pontypool census 1861 is my childrens Gx4 Grandfather.
They moved from Ireland to Pontypool before John moved to Swansea.
I believe the mother was Bridget Collins from looking at the Baptism records for Killeagh 1841.
