Gwendoline A.A. Holding
« on: Tuesday 29 November 05 16:07 GMT (UK) »

Looking for information  on Gwendoline A. A. Holding   Born in Gloucester in 1920. Her mother (Alice Clifford) died in 1921. She was then looked after by her father Albert  E. Holding.  He then died in 1926 in Cheadle. It was at this
stage that Gwendoline was looked after by a couple known as Annie and Bob.
It is not sure whether two people were relatives of  Gwendoline's father.
Gwendoline stayed with Bob and Annie until her late teens and may have
been living in LYMM.  At the outbreak of WW2  she then joined the Women's
Auxilliary Air Force.  She was an attractive woman and the Air Force authorities
used her photograph in a wide recruiting campaign.  During 1942 it is believed
that she married a  Matthew L. Lloyd, at ILFORD.  This man may have been a Canadian.  She has not been heard of since.  Any information on this Lady
would be most appreciated.

Subsequent  searching has revealed that Matthew Llewellyn Lloyd was indeed a Welshman and at the time his marriage to Gwendloline was
serving in the Royal Air Force.  At the time of their marriage they were living at 202 Longbridge Road, Barking in Essex.  At a later stage in their
married lives they lived in Bournemouth where Mathew died in 1988.
Later Gwendoline moved to Southampton where she died in1994.
I surmise that the move to Southampton may have been to be near to her family, in which case there may be some of her family in the Southampton area.
