Kent, birth look up please
« on: Wednesday 30 November 05 04:55 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the birth of   William James Wills  born abt 1830 in Canterbury, Kent, England.  I have his Australian marriage cert & also his youngest daughters birth cert, both giving Canterbury, Kent as his birth place.  I believe his mother was Ann Bassett who married William Wills at Hinckley in 1827.  (But I need to confirm this) Ann Wills was sent to Australia in 1832 on a womens convict ship.  She was charged at the Old Bailey in Sept 1831 for stealing.  I do not know if her 2 children went with her or followed, or if her husband William Wills went to Australia.  Any information would be of help with my search.
Many thanks  Merrilyn

Hello Iris,
Thankyou so much for trying to help, unfortunately I do not feel there is an connection, unless a cousin.  My William James Wills & a brother ? went to Australia, their mother went in 1832,.   I do not know when the boys went out, I doubt they went on the Convict ship with her

.  I need to keep searching.  I was delighted to find 2 records of his mother Ann's convictions at the Old Bailey in 1831.  Thankyou again for taking the time to help. Much appreciated.  Estelle
