Could someone please help me with who household members were in Civil Parish: Llandaff Glamorgan(shire) that would have included Phillip Jones married, head, age 26 born Cardiff occupation bookkeeper. Thank you very much.

If you aren't 100% sure that this is your man, there is another Phillip Jones born same year in Cardiff, living Canton. his parents appear to be John and Elizabeth.  I think you should be able to find both of these Phillips in the 1881 census at www.familysearch.org however YOUR Phillip's family were then living in Roath and the family who were later in Canton were then in Llandaff, how confusing can they be??

Is this the same Phillip Jones who is listed on NA site 1901 census as an iron mongers bookkeeper? I was looking for Phillip in Glamorgan who would be with a son William I. age 4-8. I was thinking this would be them for sure but looks like not  Thanks very much for looking anyway.

Sorry I had another look and yes what I read as journeyman may well be ironmonger.

There are many Williams in the area obviously, do you know for sure your William I's father was Phillip?  Any idea of his mother's name? 

I have a Ivor William 6, parents Samuel and Mary Ann, living Roath, otherwise have not found a William I.  Do you know where you expect them to be living?  Unfortunately the NA site don't list middle names so all you will get is a list of Williams with their parish.  If you believe you can identify the one you want, let me know.

Thanks. If you wouldn't mind having a look do any of these have a son William 4-8? If there is one then maybe I can locate  the actual image of the census page that might show middle initial?

I have looked at each Phillip Jones between 20 and 35 in Glamorganshire and this is the only one with a son William of near the right age.

You are great! Did you look at the other spelling of Phillip as well? Sorry but I have been looking for my grandfather on 1901 census for so long and his birth certificate too. I know his first born son was Phillip or Philip so I thought a good shot might be that was his fathers name?

Does your parent not know the date of birth of his father?

Hi MaryA,

I WISH! it is one of those two with inlaws there and everything. All we have we THOUGHT was a birth date is May 20, 1894. BUT no birth certificate can be found in Glamorgan anywhere that fits. My Mom lost touch with her father at a young age hence not alot of real solid knowledge to go on. In the process of sending for Army Records so maybe they will tell us at least his REAL birth date??
