Yorkshire 1861 census online

During October,  the first part of our indexing project for Yorkshire will be complete, with the 114,000 people of Halifax indexed. This will be available to search online.

To enable us to get more records for more towns and cities online, I need more people to help with the indexing. Please see the covering page on my homepage for more info. The more people who help, the quicker we can get the index online. The site is: http://www.1861census.co.uk/

I'm doing this because I'm too impatient to wait for someone else to make 1861 available. If you think you can help, please get in touch.

I see that your launch date has been put back to
1 November 2004  Angry so I assume you're having a few teething problems.

Therefore, go on then, I'll ask.............what do I need to have to volunteer to do a bit of transcribing (or whatever)?

This site still has gone "live yet". I think it is a good idea though, as the 1861 census is woefully neglected.
