Help me to solve a small problem. I have a photo [very poor] of my father in army uniform. I have some cause to suspect this was taken before World War II. As he was certainly not a regular soldier I am beginning to think he was in some TA regiment - he was certainly in some cadet force when about 15. Under a powerful glass I can clearly the Prince of Wales feathers in his cap badge.
That could be lots of different regiments but if it was a TA outfit they would have been operating in or around Paddington where he then lived. I checked several web sites that showed cap badges but did not find one that convinced me.
Can you help?

Hi Hackstaple,

Any chance you could post the photo so that we can have a look at it?

I would if I could but I have not yet found a way to incorporate photos into one of these messages - I can copy text in but not photos.

Hi Hackstaple,

I recently asked how to post images, here's a link to the answer that I got Smiley

http://www.rootschat.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11157.msg36411#msg36411

If you can't get it to work, I wonder if you have tried this site to see if you can find the answer to your original post?

Sorry - I cannot paste into this site anything except text. I even pasted the photo into Word and copied it from there but when I try to put the image in between the markers on this site there is nothing to paste!
I am not usually so stupid with computer programmes.
Any effort to describe the badge would be futile and none of the many sites that I have looked at have this badge. As an ex-regular soldier myself I can identify far more than 75% of British Army badges on sight. That is one reason why I feel this is a T.A. unit badge and of a unit now disbanded or incorporated into the standing army in 1939 and later disbanded.

Hi Hackstable

That is right, you can not cut and paste it between the markers.

With the picture safely installed on your hard drive, you put the address of the picture in the 'additional options' section at the bottom of the posting - not between those image markers.

When in the Additional options section, browse to find your picture - double click on it and it will transfer to the browse box - then post.

Hope that help

Hi Hackstaple,

Congratulations on getting the picture onto the forum Smiley

It looks to me like the badge of the 18th Battalion Middlesex Regiment (1st Public Works Pioneers)
http://www.egframes.co.uk/wwibadges.htm

Rather ironically,I tried to post an image of it but for some reason it didn't work Huh

Here is a link to it,it's the sixth one down.

Hope this helps,Mick Wink

Thanks Mickey M, Mr. B and Chris. I knew that someone here would have the answer. The Middlesex Regiment sounds just right.
This is a great club - everyone is trying to help someone.
