Lumsden Family
« on: Saturday 10 January 04 10:13 GMT (UK) »
 ???

Please help, I am trying to find a missing relative.  He is JAMES JOHN CADDELL LUMSDEN and he and his family before him came from Bo'Ness, I have his parents and grandparents with children from both generations all listed in Bo'Ness.  James was born 4 October 1818.

James married Janet SNEDDON November 1841 and had 9 children between 1843 and 1861.  In 1876 Janet with her 5 children boarded the "Cardigan Castle" and came out to New Zealand to follow her eldest daughter and her family who came out earlier in 1876.

Now for the missing person.  James was not on the boat with Janet and the children so my first thought was that he died, but I have been looking for him in the death records and as yet have had no luck in finding him.

Can anyone offer any suggestions of just what may have happened to him, or where I could go to find any reference of at all as I am at a loss of what to do next.

Thank you

James had a sister Margaret christened 7 Feb 1813 in Bo'ness West Lothian.  Their parents were John Lumsden (born Oct 1780 and Married March 1804) and Marion Snaddon.  Both of Bo'ness.

Hope this helps.

Great, if you wish to look through any of my info you are most welcome.  I would be interested in anything you have as it may give an insight to the family and how they lived.  If you want to I can leave my email address for you next time.

I would like to know if anybody has info on a Jane Lumsden.
She supposedly died 1905 while giving birth to my mother
(Marion Hope Moore).  She was married to Robert Moore
a Edinburgh policeman who served in the army during the
India uprising.  My mother died at a early age  so I don't have much to go on...Any info would be appreciated.
