ACKERLEY family of Holyhead
« on: Saturday 31 December 05 11:41 GMT (UK) »
Should be interested to contact any descendants of this family.

My gt  grandfather was Thomas Edward ACKERLEY who lived with his wife, Mary and family in London Road, Holyhead in the 1890s and 1900s.

Thomas worked for the LMS rail company and was supposed to have been the night station master at Holyhead before he retired. They had a large family, many of whom settled/married in the Holyhead area.

Hi,

I have a largish branch from Holyhead, and several relatives who still live there. Can you provide any names at all, I could then ask around.

Hello D,

Thomas Edward Ackerley had a large family and will give you the names that I can remember without my notes!!

Can give you dates of birth if it would help.

There was Ethel, Albert Edward (my grandfather), Maud, Blanche, Mina, Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Sarah, George, Harold (killed in WW1). Will need to get back to you on the others when I get my notes to hand.

Some of the children were born in Mold. The family moved to Holyhead with the LMS.

My grandfather lived in Llandudno for the rest of his life. Some of the others did too, though many remained in Holyhead.

There is an Ackerley website if you would like details.

Very interested to make contact.

I am researching the Great War casualties from Holyhead and have Harold Owen Ackerley of the Royal Irish Rifles listed as being killed in France aged 19 on 03 October, 1918. In the course of my research I came across this extensive local history website, which has information on the Ackerley family of Holyhead. http://www.penmon.org/page73.htm you will need to scroll down a fair way to a section entitled "Brothers in-law" or do a word search on the family name.
