Well now a little patience kind people.

I walk past their offices everyday and the amount of disruption and noise they must be experiencing from all the building work for teh new family history campus must really hurt.

Our rellies aren't going anywhere :-)

Dear Pam,

I know nothing about the building and disruption (not a word from SP! - and we'd be very patient if they told us this was the reason) - but I'm sure you understand that the comments earlier in this thread come from patient and kind people who are great supporters of ScotlandsPeople  ;D

It would just be so easy (and would have been thus on so very very many past occasions) for SP to put up a few explanatory words on site.

No, our rellies aren't going anywhere - but please let's not be misled any more that we are about to find them sooner rather than later.  It's happened so often in the past and should not continue to happen.

SP - you are great except in the area of public relations (in my view as a long-term customer).

All the very best,

JAP

Just checked it out on TalkingScot.

Someone has added that they'll be getting it early this next week and then they need up to a week to complete their tests.

So, digits crossed, about 10-14 days - with a following wind!

Personally (sorry guys!) I'm not all that keen on seeing the 1841 (those districts which are not yet on FreeCEN) and 1851 censuses on SP - the reason is because all it would mean is that I would end up spending even MORE MONEY (especially on my one-name projects)  :'(

But one does have to wonder why, on the SP site, the projected date for the 1851 is still - in February 2006 - stated as January 2006  :o

It would take seconds/minutes to amend that date.  And it would take no longer to post a wee notice of apology (and explanation?) for the delay - and I'm sure that such actions would be very much appreciated by all customers  :D

C'mon SP, we all love you -  but you really would earn lots of brownie points if you were to do this  ;D

JAP
PS: Hi Pam, I've now seen mentions elsewhere about the renovations etc to GROS in Edinburgh - and perhaps that is what is causing the problems (though I did read somewhere on a mailing list that there had been some problems with the quality of some of the 1851 images?).  Building hassles would affect GROS which is, of course, the major partner in (indeed the owner of?) SP.  But one would think that SoL (Scotland on Line - IP contractor to GROS for SP) could amend the date and put up an apology; and my understanding (from its website and from signatures on emails from SP) is that SoL is located in Dundee ...

I know SP have an office in teh GROS - it's just round from teh ladies loos BUT I don't know what they do in there.

I've been in the archives a few times before Christmas (next door & I believe on the same IT system) and they have been having long periods of time with their systems down.  Related? Dunno.

I agree they should amend the website but if the delay is only a couple months I can wait  ;D
