1851 + 1861 Cambridgeshire Lookup
« on: Tuesday 14 September 04 17:08 BST (UK) »
Im looking for a William MASON and Keziah MASON in Cherryhinton, Cambridgeshire.
I have them in the 1871, 1881 and so on but not the 1851 or 1861.

They would also have the following children:

Robert MASON - B: approx. 1858
Charlotte MASON - B: Approx. 1851

****************************
Im also looking for a Robert PATTEN and Charlotte PATTEN (the parents of Keziah MASON of above) in 1851 or 1861 from Trumpington, Cambridge. At this stage I have no other children except for Keziah MASON (Nee:PATTEN)

Thank you
:)

As Rick has pointed out, Cambs FHS has an excellent website which will give you access to their indexes for the 1841 and 1851 censuses – although the Patten families were living in Fulbourn, not Trumpington (it is easy to put them in family groups from the folio number).

1861

High St, Cherry Hinton
William Mason Head married 44 ag lab born Cherry Hinton
Kezia Mason wife 43 housewife born Fulbourn, Cambs
Charles Mason son  14 ag lab b Ch H
Arthur Mason son 12 ag lab b Ch H
Harriet Mason dau 9 scholar b Ch H
Robert Mason son 4 (or 6, not too clear) b Ch H
Caroline Mason d 2 b Ch H

Apthorpe St, Fulbourn, Cambs
Robert Patten Head married 69 ag lab born Fulbourn
Charlotte Patten wife 65 b Trumpington

There were 3 other Patten families in Fulbourn in 1861, where the heads were William 52, Thomas 42, and John 36. – let me know if you would like full details

Hi again Shanko!,
Just left a message on the Battersea site about the Targett’s and thought I’d search for Cherry Hinton.  Low and behold I come across you again!.  I have some Paton’s and some Pattens in my tree. Not a William or a Kaziah, but quite s few others.  I have an Arthur Mason born Cherry Hinton around 1850 who married Eliza Cornell, my 1st cousin 4 times removed.  Also a Harriet Mason who married Horace David King, my 2nd cousin 3 times removed.  In fact, as I have traced my family in Cherry and surrounding areas since the 1540s, I seem to be related to most families there in one way or another.  Do try the Cambridgeshire Family History Society.  I have posted information there in the past including pictures of graves that include, as far as I can remember, King’s, Paton’s and Cornell’s.
