« on: Tuesday 14 September 04 21:28 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am new to this board.

Can any of you with the 1841 Sussex census have a lookup for Mary Walder, aged 1 parents John and Mary Walder, born in the Cuckfield area please. This could mean Slaugham and Warninglid.

Also, if you wouldnt mind, looking for her in 1851 when you get time

Thanks

Hi again coomber

There are other Walder Families in Slaugham in 1841 - Thomas Walder 40, and Maria 30, with children - he is a farmer.

Where did you get the name Mary from - all the info I have is pointing to a Mildred, no sign of a Mary married to a John.

In 1851 there is a Mary 45, wife of James, 55, farmer, and a Mary 26, wife of William, 24, Farm Baliff

Hi Chris

Thanks very much for your time and research. The youngest Mary was my 3 greats granny and she moved to London in 1864 just after she gave birth to my great, great grandmother.

In the 1841 census, the John and Mary both aged 20, are the parents of 1 year old Mary. Mary Snr died in about 1845 and John remarried a Charlotte.

Thanks again for your time.

Hi Coombs

Thanks for explaining that - it has made the information a lot clearer to understand, and now looking at the 1841 and 1851 census entries it all fits in

Thanks for straightening me out

Hi

I just thought I would register my interest in the Walder family discussed here. They come from a Bolney connection. I have a large tree back to the 1500's in Horsham. I have not connected yet to the Bolney Walders but I live in hope.

Details of the Bolney Walders are on my website along with the main line and other offshoots in Lindfield, Cuckfield and so on. Pix of gravestones and residences included.

www.keymer.recording.btinternet.co.uk/gen.htm

Follow the Walder link and Bolney at the bottom of the main page.

I hope you will find something of interest.
