Searching the Murtagh family
« on: Monday 09 January 06 16:26 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help with the Murtagh family of Dundalk?  There was a family farm called Tankers Rock from which one could see the sentry posts in the distance.  Any information about the family will be appreciated.

Hello Dave,

The sentry posts you mention are recent history, 1970s onward. I found some Murtaghs living in Dundalk in 1854 when Griffith's Valuation of Ireland took place in Co. Louth.  http://www.failteromhat.com
Bernard of Chapel Lane (Town Parks)
James of Park Street (Town Parks)
John of Park Street (Town Parks)
Luke of Bridge Street (Town Parks)
Michael of Rice's Lane (Town Parks)
Thomas of River Lane (Town Parks)

NOTE:
The name James (this might be one guy) is mentioned three more times -
Off Anne Street and Anne Street (both Town Parks) and also at  Upper Marshes.

All the Best, Chris
