« on: Thursday 16 September 04 21:02 BST (UK) »
hi, could anyone tell me the best place to buy the marriage index for sussex. id also like any ideas on where to buy a nine generation decorative family tree scroll for framing, ones ive seen usually only go back 5 gens, and some are two sided which is no use as id like to display the whole tree. great site this, kind of stumbled across it today,

Hallo Tiff: Re the 1st sentence of your message:-It seems that the family records for Sussex are split between East Sussex Record office and West Sussex Record Office. If you google 'Sussex Record Office' you will see what I mean and get some useful info contacts about your question. I appreciate that if you are some distance from Sussex this may not be totally helpful but it will be a good starting point for you.
I think one of the Rootchatters has a lot of specialist knowhow about Sussex family history

Welcome, tiff,

You can buy the Sussex Marriage Index on CD from the Sussex Family History Group, price £20, visit http://www.sfhg.org.uk/pubs_sfhg.html
to order download an order form.  You then have to use snail mail, but it should not take too long to arrive.

Otherwise you can ask us all lots of questions or look-ups and we'll do our best here to help you.

If you look at the Sussex board, you will see that our resident expert is Chris in 1066land: he has lots of resources on Sussex and an encyclopaedic knowledge of his local area.

Hi Tiff,
Welcome to Rootschat.
You will not regret buying the Sussex Marriage Index CD, I have found mine INVALUABLE.  I was able to buy mine through the Sussex Family History Group using my credit card (as I'm not in the UK) and it arrived along with a few other things very promptly!  The publications guy was very helpful!

Hi there Tiff

Dont forget when you get your Sussex Marriage Index to come back and seek further assistance in filling out your families from the census returns, etc.
