« on: Sunday 22 January 06 22:08 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for the whereabouts of Florence and Julia Gregg in 1901. they are not living with family and do not appear seperately on the census.

I am unsure whether they dies or married.

Can anyone help?

Thanks  :)

Could you post their birth places and birth years please.
Have you found them on previous census.

There is a marriage for a Julia Gregg in 1900 but I won't be able to trace her in 1901 without the above details

In 1891 I have found them living at 85 Oswald Street, Hackney. Florence is 12 and Julia is 8. Florence says born in Old Ford, Julia in Hackney.

In 1901 they would have been 22 and 18. Does this help?

Ages and birth places make a lot of difference - especially if they have married. This is what I found for Julia. The only way to verify it is to send for the marriage cert.

Gregg, Julia
Marriage Qrt ending December 1900
Hackney
Vol 1b
page 956
1b
Page: 956

These are the names appearing on the same reference page so it is probable she married either Joseph Freeman or William Smith

Freeman, Joseph Charles
Gregg, Julia
Markey, Rosetta Ellenor
Smith, William Henry

This is what I found on the 1901 census

24 Whitmore Road, Shoreditch

Joseph Freeman Head age 20 Stock keeper, Factory, born St Luke London
Julia wife age 19 born Old Ford

RG13/278 Shoreditch Folio 47 Page 44

Haven't spotted her.

There is a reference for a Florence Gregg marrying in Shoreditch in 1908 but that would make her 29

Still looking but.............

It wouldn't account for her being missing in 1901 either.

i think I may have lost her!

Well, I can't seem to spot a marriage for her and I can't spot a death on the civil registration list so at the moment she is officially missing - if anyone else would like a crack at this she is an open case :)
