Where do I find a passenger list from Melbourne to Invercargil **COMPLETED**

Im trying to find a passenger list for the ship "Jane" which sailed from Melbourne on 25 October 1864 for Invercargill. There was a Miss Alice Williams aged 10 on board and I need to see the others on the voyage to see who may have accompanied her as I believe there were no other Williams on board.

Hi fern,

There is a series of microfiche compiled by the NZSG of immigrant ships to NZ ports via Melbourne VIC that covers that period.

I'll have a look next time I'm at the library.

Thankyou Riley, I do know that Miss Alice WILLIAMS is on that ship but no clues as to who might have accompanied her without seeing the names.. I do appreciate it Thanks

There were two Williams's on that voyage:

Miss Alice WILLIAMS aged 10, Accomodation: Aft.
Mrs WILLIAMS married, aged 34 from IRL, Accomodation: Cabin.
No husband appeared that I could see.

I'm puzzled about the fact that they had separate berth's, but I wonder if Alice was "transferred to Single Women" as often happened, although I would have thought she was a mite young. It's possible that there was no connection between them other than an identical surname.

Im now puzzled too,  but maybe no connection. The Mrs WILLIAMS wasnt Alices mother as she was deceased, and I dont think there is any Irish connection.

My apologies, but I put you wrong earlier.

It appears that Mrs Williams from IRL and your Miss Alice Williams travelled on different voyages of the Jane in 1864, the former on the January voyage as the only passenger, and the latter on the October voyage as one of two passengers. I haven't found the other one yet.

The fiche series Passenger Lists VIC AUS Outwards to NZ Ports comprises different lists in ship, date and arrival order and you need to check each.
